Certain bacteria can attach to the lining of the bladder and urinary tract. This attachment is an important early step in the development of many urinary tract infections (UTIs).

Cranberry PACs may make this attachment more difficult.

Think of bacteria trying to grip the urinary tract lining like Velcro. Cranberry-related compounds may make that grip less effective.

This is only an analogy. The bacteria do not literally use Velcro.

Why is bacterial attachment important?

Certain types of E. coli bacteria can cause UTIs.

These bacteria have structures that help them attach to the lining of the urinary tract.

Once attached, they are better able to remain there.

Early cranberry theories focused on the idea that cranberry made urine more acidic. Later research showed that this did not fully explain cranberry’s effects.

Scientists then found that cranberry could reduce the ability of certain E. coli bacteria to stick to bladder cells.

Researchers later identified A-type PACs as important cranberry compounds linked to this anti-adhesion action.

A vague label does not prove that the product is poor quality.

It simply means that you may not have enough information to judge its PAC dose.
